The Bay Area Health Trust with Peter Kalra
Peter Kalra is the CEO of the Bay Area Health Trust (BAHT), a unique business model that creates profits for healthcare beneficiaries instead of stockholders. The beneficiaries of BAHT are Hamilton Health Sciences, the Hamilton Hospital Foundation and McMaster University.
BAHT is celebrating 20 years in 2022 and Peter discusses the origins of the trust and how the future will be molded out of the various enterprises under BAHT’s umbrella.
The Aging at Home model within BAHT is the business that supports the education platform that is Age Safe Canada as well as the unique products of Assistep, Gripo and Safety-Chair.
Peter and his BAHT colleagues realized early on that these products and services will be required more than ever as our society ages and that BAHT can be a vital element in the success of the multiple needs that are being offered. Under the Age Safe Canada banner, BAHT believes that we can fill in the gaps of a fragmented model and bring real life solutions to those that really need them.
As part of their 20th year, BAHT also is moving to 66 Innovation Dr in Waterdown, ON where a new 17,000 sf, state of the art facility will be the home of BAHT for now and into the future.
